The Ultimate BBQ Blend: Smoky, Spicy, and Built for Perfect Bark

Crafted for those who take their barbecue seriously, this blend layers deep chile flavor, warm smoke, and classic spice to create incredible color, crave-worthy aroma, and a mouthwatering crust on anything that hits the grill or smoker. From ribs to chicken to big cuts of beef, this seasoning brings bold, unmistakably "BBQ" character.

What It Tastes Like

A smoky, pepper-forward barbecue flavor with fruity chile undertones, bright mustard heat, and warm, earthy cumin. It's aromatic, punchy, balanced, and designed to create stunning bark, great color, and layers of flavor that develop with every bite.

Why It Works

This blend takes the best of Southwestern chiles, classic BBQ spices, and bold aromatics to deliver maximum color, crust, and complexity. It enhances smoke without overpowering the meat — and works on both low-and-slow and high-heat grilling.

This seasoning is amazing. Ive used it on pulled pork and steak. There is a wonderful underlying spicy heat that is present in the backside of the flavor.I didn't see any weird ingredients and appreciated that. This company has won future business.

Great for chicken wings

The media could not be loaded.

I used the Antler & Oak Vaquero Smoke seasoning today on chicken wings, and I was impressed with the results. First, I tossed the wings in a bit of olive oil, then dusted both sides fairly generously with the Vaquero Smoke seasoning. After letting them sit for about 20 minutes to absorb the flavor, I cooked them in the air fryer until they reached an internal temperature above 165°F.The seasoning has a mild kick — it's spicy, but not overpowering — making it enjoyable even for those who don’t prefer overly hot foods. The flavor profile is well-balanced and adds a nice smoky depth to the wings without masking the natural taste of the chicken. Now that I’ve tried it on chicken and enjoyed it, I’m looking forward to using it on pork ribs next. I think the smoky, mildly spicy flavor will pair really well with pork.Overall, a flavorful and versatile seasoning that works great for air-fried wings and likely many other meats.

A nice touch of heat and flavor!

This seasoning is a lovely way to make food taste better with minimal effort! I love that this blend is made in small batches and is made in the USA. The flavor is bold with a hint of smoke and spice. You can use as much or as little as you need to get the flavor you want. I have tried it on chicken and steak and both have tasted great so it is very versatile. The heat is what I would say is a medium level. It is too spicy for my kids, but they also think pepper is spicy so their judgement can't be trusted sometimes. As an adult with a developed palate, I think it is definitely worth adding to your spice cabinet!

Very flavorful

This seasoning has a smoky flavor with some heat from the chili peppers. I’ve used it on chicken and pork and it adds good flavor. The spice blend isn’t too spicy but you can taste the smokiness. The container is 5 oz which is a decent size and will last me a while since you don’t need a ton. The flavor works well on grilled meat and I’ve also used it on roasted vegetables. The guajillo chili gives it a different taste than regular BBQ seasoning. It’s not too salty which I appreciate because some seasonings are way too much. The price is a bit high for a small container but the quality seems good. I’ve been using it pretty regularly and it makes cooking easier since I don’t have to mix a bunch of spices myself. Works well for BBQ and everyday cooking.

Delicious but pricey

This seasoning is really delicious, adding a nice smokey flavor and aroma with medium spicy chili pepper flavor to whatever you wish to put this on, accented by cumin. I really enjoy some of it on eggs and chicken.Like many spices, it is salt based, and since I need to watch my sodium intake I use this sparingly. This bottle is a decent size so it will last me awhile. I appreciate that this is made in the USA.$15 for this though is quite expensive.

Versatile spice blend and seasoning

This Oak & Antler seasoning and spice blend has a great light smoky flavor and is very easy and convenient to use as a rub or seasoning. I’ve tried it on chicken and air-fried broccoli so far and it creates a delicious flavor profile. It’s not too spicy for people who prefer mild spiciness. I go a little bit lighter on the seasoning when I use it as a rub since I don’t want salt to overpower the dish. Watch the salt content, since it’s the first ingredient in the list.I like that the ingredients list only contains spices and words that I recognize, rather than a blend of chemicals, preservatives, and natural flavors. It makes me feel better about feeding this to my family, and is worth a premium to me. The price is a bit on the high side, but it’s a large bottle and will last a while. I’m happy with this seasoning blend overall, and it’s versatile enough to use on both meat and vegetables.

Seasonin’ So Good It’ll Make a Grown Man Hover

I love cookin’ out, and when this seasoning sashayed across my screen, I figured, “Well now, I gotta see what kinda magic dust this is.” I’ve tried more seasonings than a county‑fair judge—some winners, some that oughta be tried for crimes against meat. This mornin’, my wife tossed some chicken breasts in the crockpot, and I sweet‑talked her into sprinklin’ this stuff on top. By about 10 a.m., that aroma started creepin’ through the house like a polite burglar. By 5:30, I was in a full‑blown trance—eyes glazed, stomach singin’, wanderin’ toward the kitchen like a cartoon character floatin’ on a scent trail. The chicken didn’t just fall off the bone—it gave up, surrendered, and filed for early retirement. And the flavor? Lord have mercy. A perfect blend with just enough kick to wake you up without scarin’ off the folks who think pepper is “a little spicy.”This stuff shot straight to the top of my favorites list. I’m already dreamin’ about rubbin’ it on a brisket in the smoker or a Sunday roast. Only problem is, I’ll have to keep the doors shut tight—one whiff of this cookin’, and the whole neighborhood’ll be lined up in my driveway with plates in hand.

Tasty, a bit of heat, an great with most proteins

I really enjoyed the taste of this spice mix, it had a good smokey taste, rich and lasting, and and with what I would call a light to mid range amount of heat. I couldn't really taste the salt in it, but I tend to put a ton of salt of everything, so take that as you will.I've used this with pork and chicken so far, and it's done good with either, I assume it would be good on steaks and anything else with a lot of back to it, but I wouldn't use it with fish or tofu, I think it would overpower anything that mild, I tried it with potatoes, and it tasted great, but there wasn't really anything of the potatoes taste that came though all said and done.I think my only critique of this seasoning mix is the price point, it's a lot more costly then a lot of the spices I buy, and I'm not going to lie, I might consider trying to replicate the mix before thinking about buying another. But if you're more into buying a premade mix then trying it yourself, go for it, if you like some heat and smoke, it's a versatile seasoning for most all your proteins.

Smoky, Flavorful, and Perfect for Quick Meals

Wow, this seasoning has a really nice smoky aroma. I noticed it immediately as soon as I opened the container. The smell alone made me excited to try it. I used it on some chicken that I quickly cooked in a pan with just a little olive oil, and it turned out surprisingly good considering how little effort I put into the meal. This seasoning does a lot of the heavy lifting when it comes to flavor. However, it is a bit pricey. I don't see this running out any time soon, so I may consider getting another one in a year or so.A little goes a long way, so you don't need much to make a big impact. It also has a slight kick to it, which I really enjoyed. The smoky flavor and mild spice made it especially good for tacos.Overall, this is a flavorful seasoning that's easy to use, pretty versatile, and can make simple meals taste much better.

Bold Smoke

The Oak & Antler Vaquero Smoke seasoning is a small batch blend featuring guajillo chili, lime, garlic, and other quality ingredients. The jar emits a fresh smoky aroma when opened. The seasoning works well on ribs, pork, chicken, steak, eggs, and vegan dishes. The smoky profile with a mild lime hint adds depth, while the heat level stays moderate, sufficient for adults but potentially too strong for kids.Overall, it delivers a bold smoky flavor that can elevate many dishes.

Smoky BBQ Rub Adds Lime Flavor

I rubbed this smoky seasoning on my large pork ribs. The guajillo chili provides a smoky and very sweet taste. I really like the bright hint of lime and garlic. This small batch spice blend contains many quality ingredients. It smells very fresh right out of the jar. I will use it for my next baked chicken dinner. The heat level of the spices is very mild now.

So delicious

This seasoning is delicious! It's smokey and not spicy at all. I've put it on fish, chicken and it adds a deep, complex smokey flavor. It will last a while.

Bold, smoky, versatile

I really like this Vaquero Smoke seasoning by Oak & Antler. It has been amazing for grilling steaks, pork chops, and chicken. It isn't overly salty like many mass-produced rubs, so the smoky chili profile really shines. It smells amazing and tastes great. Highly recommend!

Great smokey flavor with some moderate heat!

This is a very good and flavorful seasoning! My first impression upon opening it was the strong smokey aroma. It is strong and a little of this goes a long way. I sampled it initially as just a small pinch on my tongue. The flavor is obviously intense, but not in a bad way. The spice from the Guajillo chili pepper does linger for a bit, so if you're not a fan of spice, this is definitely not for you. This would be good as a seasoning on chicken or pork, or even mixed into ground beef for burgers. I plan on using it in my scrambled eggs for a little variety my weekly breakfast. Overall, this is a very good seasoning and I look forward to trying it in various different dishes!

Adds depth and savory kick to vegan dishes

My tweener announced her commitment to a vegan diet last Thanksgiving in a way that only a 13 year old can do, and since then, I have been trying to figure out how to add a couple dishes to every meal that the whole family can enjoy. Honestly, we are all probably healthier for it, but it's not that easy to make everyone happy when you take the butter and bacon fat out of the recipe. The best trick I have learned is to find great spices that aren't too salty or too hot, and this blend has been a big hit. I have one dish that uses garbonzo beans and sweet corn, which I used to bind with sour cream and seasoning. Now I make a sort of gravy with agar and I added this as a base. They finished it off completely and asked for more. Usually, that is the kind of dish that they like, but don't love. The only thing different is this blend, which really complements the sweet of the corn and gives a richness to the pretty bland beans.Since then, I have been adding it to more of those "like but don't love" dishes, and it seems to be working. I can't say that anybody is complimenting me on my savvy kitchen skills, but since when do kids appreciate a free meal?Overall, this is a great addition to the pantry. It's a bit to early in the year to start thinking about chili and stews, but I'm looking forward to trying this on some old recipes.
