Pleasantly Surprised - An Elegant, Flavor‑Boosting Blend!

I picked up this bottle of spices by Oak & Antler on a whim, and I have to say, I’m pleasantly surprised by how refined this seasoning is. It’s an elegant mix of spices, it's balanced, aromatic, and full of character without being overwhelming. The combination of sea salt, garlic, onion, Urfa chili, and black pepper gives it a depth that feels a step above your typical all‑purpose rub.I’ve tried it on fish and steak, and it shines on both. The touch of heat from the Urfa chili is subtle but welcome - just enough to wake up the flavor without taking over the dish. It’s the kind of seasoning that makes you want to experiment more in the kitchen.Overall, this blend feels thoughtfully crafted and genuinely enjoyable to cook with. Well worth a try if you’re looking to elevate everyday meals or spark a little culinary creativity.

Awesome blend that’s very versatile.

I don’t usually write reviews for a seasoning because they’ve always just kind of been an afterthought in cooking but I went online to order a few of their other blends and figured this one deserved a review. The Badlands Blend was exactly what I needed tonight. It’s bold without being overly salty or overpowering like the junk spices I’ve been using for as long as I can remember. It has a smoky kind of peppery flavor with just a touch of heat but very subtle. It’s kind of like a cross between smoke and Worcestershire but honestly hard to explain.I used it on a questionably fresh piece of salmon. Yeah, one of those marked down “let’s see how this goes” late night buys and it turned out fantastic. No time for anything complicated. No marinade. Just threw it on, cooked it, and 15 minutes later I had a great dinner. It gave the salmon a nice little crust and that smoky flavor really worked. It’s also pretty versatile. My wife uses it to rim glasses for Bloody Marys which is why we have it in our cupboard. I’m going to start using it on all sorts of foods. I could see it being great on something like a sloppy joe or even sprinkled on the mac and cheese the kids never finishAppreciate a product that actually stands out from the usual boring chemical tasting spices we’re all used to.

Great for adding a touch of garlic flavor to your steaks and burgers.

I love how the garlic flavor jumps out in this seasoning. I've used it on burgers and steaks and it's come out great with both. Pretty simple ingredients and nothing you would not recognize so that is a big plus in my books.

Good Everyday Seasoning, Not Spicy.

TL;DRSimple garlic-forward seasoning with mild flavor and almost no heat. Works well on burgers, but I found I needed to use a bit more than expected to get strong flavor.Full ReviewThis is a simple seasoning blend made from sea salt, garlic, onion, Urfa chili pepper, and black pepper. There are no additives or fillers, just a straightforward mix of spices.I tested it on chicken and burgers, and overall it worked best for me on burgers.Flavor-wise, the salt and garlic are definitely the dominant notes. The onion and pepper are present, but much more subtle. I didn’t notice much from the Urfa chili pepper in terms of heat.On the spice scale, this blend is very mild. I personally detected almost no heat at all. That said, I’m probably not the best judge of spice levels since I can eat ghost peppers whole without much trouble. The grind is very fine, so it’s easy to sprinkle evenly over food and doesn’t require any grinding or preparation. One thing I did notice is that I needed to use more seasoning than I expected to get the level of flavor I wanted. It’s not weak exactly, just fairly subtle. The salt level is noticeable but not overpowering, so if you’re using this blend you probably won’t need to add additional salt.My daughter also tried it and was less impressed than I was, so like most seasoning blends this will come down to personal taste. If you only try this on one thing, try it on a freshly cooked burger right before serving.Bottom LineA simple, garlic-forward seasoning with very mild heat and a fine grind that’s easy to use. Works well on burgers and other meats, though you may need to use a bit more than expected for stronger flavor.

Small-batch quality makes this our new favorite AP seasoning!

This is our new household AP seasoning 😍Already on our second bottle! You can really taste the quality in this small-batch seasoning- California onion and garlic, smoky heat from the Urfa pepper…this is NOT your typical grocery store AP seasoning. Excited to try the other Oak & Antler seasonings next!

Great in charcoal grilled hamburgers!!

This seasoning is pretty good! The Urfa pepper makes a great addition! I had never heard of oak & antler before but I’d like to try another kind. I will say however that the price is kind of steep for it. Especially since other than the Urfa pepper it’s fairly basic. I tried this on chicken and was not super impressed on chicken but I really did enjoy in the charcoal grilled hamburgers that I made. If you’ve got around $15 to try a seasoning blend I would say go for it!

Bold, Unique Flavor Blend — Just Use a Light Hand

This seasoning blend is such a unique and interesting flavor profile, and I’m really glad I tried it.The container came well packaged, looks professional and was properly sealed which is important to me when talking about a newer or small company. They document on the bottle that it is manufactured in a facility where milk, soy, sesame, and wheat are also processed--so take note if you have an allergy.I wasn’t familiar with the Oak & Antler brand before this, but the Badlands AP Blend has a bold mix of sea salt, garlic, onion, Urfa chili pepper, and black pepper that gives food a deep, savory kick with a little smoky warmth. It’s the kind of seasoning that immediately makes you want to experiment with it on everything — meats, veggies, seafood, even simple roasted potatoes. One thing to note is that it is quite salty, so a little goes a long way. I recommend starting lightly and building up from there, because the flavor is strong enough that you don’t need much to make an impact. Once you get the right amount, it adds a really nice depth and complexity to whatever you’re cooking.Overall, it’s a fun, bold, small‑batch blend with a distinctive taste that stands out from typical grocery‑store seasonings. I’m excited to try it on different foods, and I definitely recommend it.

So yummy!

This seasoning has a really nice, balanced flavor. It works well on meats but can also be used on vegetables or even sprinkled into other dishes for extra flavor. You can tell it’s a small-batch style blend — it doesn’t taste overly processed or one-note. The mix of spices is well-rounded without being overpowering. If you like having a go-to seasoning that works on a variety of foods, this is a good one to keep on hand.

Great Flavor Profile, But Spice Level May Not Be for Everyone

This seasoning blend has a really nice, well-balanced flavor. The mix of garlic, onion, and black pepper gives it a solid base, and the Urfa chili adds a unique, slightly smoky depth that makes it stand out from typical all-purpose seasonings. It works especially well on veggies and poultry, and I like that it’s clean with no MSG or unnecessary additives. The texture and quality feel premium, and a little goes a long way, so the small-batch aspect is noticeable. That said, the flavor might not be for everyone, especially if you’re expecting a bold, spicy kick. The heat is mild and more earthy than spicy, which some people may find a bit underwhelming.Overall, a great seasoning if you enjoy subtle, layered flavors, but not the best choice if you’re looking for something very bold or spicy.

Flavor-packed and instantly upgraded my cooking

I’m really impressed with this seasoning blend. The mix of sea salt, garlic, onion, black pepper, and that hint of chili gives everything such a rich, well-rounded flavor without needing a ton of extra ingredients.I’ve used it on different things and it just works across the board; meat, seafood, veggies, everything comes out tasting more flavorful and “finished.” It’s one of those blends that makes simple meals feel like something special.I also like that it’s small-batch and doesn’t have unnecessary additives, so the flavor tastes clean and balanced instead of overly artificial or salty.Overall, it’s become one of those go-to seasonings I keep reaching for because it just makes food better with almost no effort

All-Purpose with an Actual Purpose

This Oak & Antler Badlands AP Blend is pretty much what you'd expect from an all-purpose seasoning: it's generic enough to work on most things, which is its whole point. But that's not to say it's without merit. It tastes fresh, and I do like that it incorporates sea salt. The Urfa chili provides a noticeable, subtle warmth when I tried it, so there's a little kick there, differentiating it from some truly bland options. It's MSG-free, too, which is a simple fact I always look for. Comes in a 5.0 ounce container, which is a decent enough quantity to last a while.

My New Go-To Seasoning for Everything

Incredible flavor. Smoky, slightly spicy, and stands out from your typical all purpose seasoning blends. I’ve been putting it on everything—eggs, chicken, burgers, you name it—and it never disappoints. Works on anything and made with clean ingredients—highly recommend.

Bold, Smoky Flavor That Elevates Everything

This seasoning brings a bold, layered flavor that really stands out from typical all-purpose blends. You get a nice balance of garlic and onion for that earthy base, followed by a subtle smokiness and gentle heat from the pepper that builds just enough without being overpowering. One thing to note, it does lean a little salty, so it is worth tasting as you go to avoid over-seasoning. That said, the flavor is quite concentrated, so a little goes a long way, which makes it a great value overall.I also appreciate that the ingredients are clean and easy to recognize. No artificial fillers or preservatives, just straightforward, quality components. We have used it as a rub on grilled chicken and also sprinkled it over roasted potatoes, and both turned out fantastic. It is versatile, flavorful, and adds a unique depth that makes everyday meals feel a bit more special. Definitely a five star seasoning.

Nice spice mix

Overall, this is a nice mix. We really like that there is no MSG or other additives. Has a nice flavor, and at first I thought that there was some sugar in it, because I detected some sweetness- but supposedly that is from the Cali onion. Some nice garlic and smokiness in addition to the salt and pepper. This really shines on the grill. And for those who like the convenience of a mixture (such as my better half), it is very flavorful. One thing you have to be careful about is to constantly shake the bottle before each use, or else the salt will settle and at the end that is all you will taste.Just wish it was a tad cheaper, but quality is there, so we will probably indulge ourselves once in a while.

Ok once flavor is balanced

I’m sensitive to hot chili peppers. This blend is too salty and too peppery. It is lacking a depth of flavor and needs some balancing. A tablespoon of brown sugar added to some of the spice that was sifted to remove the pepper was much better. I then also added a teaspoon of Worcestershire powder and 1/2 teaspoon of soy sauce powder. It was so much better once the flavors were properly balanced.
